Every year during the holidays I created a different variety of cheesecake to share with my family and friends. The cheesecakes were so well received it just inspired me to continue making them. Every year I tried to be more creative than the last and every year I tried to improve my recipe.

Since I was young, I always enjoyed playing around with baked goods, sometimes just changing around recipes and sometimes creating my own concoctions. It was my creative outlet. I remember a particular homemade goodie that I created from ingredients I imagined in my head. I didn't eat a single one of these raisin, peanut butter, honey something-or-others. They didn't turn out like I thought they would. My dad, however, ate every last one of them with a smile. My mother didn't eat any of those delicious treats but she got the mother's day cake I made from scratch that had absolutely no flavor. The icing on top, however, was nice and sugary since I used granulated sugar instead of confectioner's sugar. Rest assured, I've improved since then and I now create indulgent treats that even I will eat!

Fundraising has been a big part of my family for many years. My sons and I have participated as team members, along with other family members and friends, in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. We started the tradition as a way to do something together, as a team, that we enjoyed while also giving back to the community. Every year we tried to be creative with our fundraising. We aspired to find ways to raise more money each year.
